Ichiro comes from a family with a long history of sake brewing. In 1945, Ichiro's grandfather decided to make whiskey. These mark the beginnings of the Hanyu Distillery. It closed due to bankruptcy in 2000. Ichiro salvaged the cask inventory and started his Chichibu Distillery in 2008. Ichiro's Malt Mizunara Wood Reserve first matured in oak barrels for an
